Biography of Eiji Aonuma
Eiji Aonuma was born in 1963 in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. He took some studies at the National University of Fine Arts and Music in Tokyo, where he specialized in design, and where he made several works with moving mechanical figures. He graduated from that university in 1988.
Thanks to the inventiveness and creativity shown in these figures he got a job in the famous company known as Nintendo. It was precisely in this company where he began working on his first title, Marvelous: Another Treasure Island (1996). A few years later, he was invited to join the development team for Zelda series, and it was then that he began work on three Zelda titles, all published consecutively: Ocarina of Time (1998), Majora’s Mask (2000) and Wind Waker (2002).
Eiji Aonuma also worked as co-developer on Link’s Crossbow, the first game to use the Wii Zapper. Since then, he has produced The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for Nintendo 3DS, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
